S in ESG: Strategies for Incorporating Social Responsibility into Your Organization

About this Course

ESG is an acronym for Environmental, Social, and Governance. Since it was introduced by the United Nations in the early 2000s, the term ESG has been widely adopted by corporations, investors, employees, governments, and regulators across the world. ESG assets under management reached over $30 trillion globally in 2022.

The “social” aspect of ESG focuses on people-related considerations, such as promoting the well-being of workers, customers, and communities. While the “S” is arguably the most important aspect of ESG, it is also the most difficult to define and measure. This lack of clarity and understanding has led to confusion, even from promoters, and criticism from those who believe it is too burdensome on the one hand or not comprehensive enough on the other. However, without a focus on social considerations, progress on environmental and governance aspects will be difficult to achieve.

Through this course, you will understand what the “S” in ESG stands for and how to bring a focus on social equity and justice to your organization. This course is for all professionals looking to increase their organization’s performance on social responsibility, but also financial returns since positive social performance has been tied to an increased financial bottom line.

The instructor has more than 15 years of experience working with corporations of all sizes and stages on socially responsible investing and social performance measurement and management across four continents and 12 countries.
