Overview
In 2015, the United Nations established 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to set the world on a path towards sustainable development and tackle today’s most pressing issues ranging from gender equality and quality education to climate change and clean energy. It is estimated that up to $7 trillion dollars is needed to achieve these ambitious goals by 2030, with the developing world alone having an investment gap of over US$2.5 trillion (UNDP, 2017). With contracting government budgets and overstressed NGO sectors, impact investing is turned to as the solution to unlocking capital for good and spurring innovation for sustainable development. Taught by Professor Durreen Shahnaz (CEO & Founder, IIX), this course uncovers how finance can drive sustainable development across the globe while helping you navigate the impact investing landscape effectively.

Professor Durreen Shahnaz

Durreen Shahnaz is a global leader of social impact and impact investing. Born in Bangladesh, Durreen has built an international track record as a social entrepreneur, banker, media executive and academic at institutions, including Morgan Stanley (New York), Grameen Bank (Bangladesh), Hearst Magazines International (New York) and the National University of Singapore.
She is the recipient of 2017 Oslo Business for Peace Award, often referred to as the ‘Nobel Prize for Business’, amongst numerous other awards.
